San Diego is a Navy town, so a good share of my rings get proposed with somewhere between a homecoming and the next set of orders. I support our military and I make sure the people who serve get taken care of here. In practice that means straight answers about what your calendar allows, and a ring that is finished before you need it.

What gets decided

A report date is a design decision.

When the date is fixed, it decides things: which stones can realistically be sourced, whether we modify a setting or build one, and where the approvals have to land. Most rings finish in 14–30 days, and the fast end of that belongs to the people who told me the date up front.

A military timeline comes first

Most jewelers ask about the ring and get around to your timeline at the end. When the Navy owns your calendar, that order is backward. We start with the date, whether that is a deployment, a homecoming, or the one week of leave you actually have, and every decision after that gets made against it.

If the date genuinely cannot be met well, you will hear that on day one instead of week three. A rushed ring you settled for is a worse outcome than an honest conversation about what is possible.

Most of it works over text

The early decisions travel fine by phone. Inspiration photos, the shape, a budget range, the general direction of the setting. That matters when you are training, underway, or stationed somewhere that is not here. The whole process is built to run this way.

It means the in-person time gets saved for the part that actually needs your eyes, which is seeing stones next to each other and approving the design. People have sat down with me once between a workup and a deployment and left with every real decision made.

Where the finished ring waits

A military engagement ring often gets finished before the moment it's for, and a sea bag is nowhere to keep it. So it waits with me. The finished ring sits safely with me until you're back, with the grading report and an insurance appraisal ready alongside it if you asked for one. If someone you trust is picking it up instead, tell me who, and the handover happens quietly so the surprise survives the logistics.

Questions couples ask before they start

Can a custom engagement ring be finished before a deployment?

Often, yes. Most rings finish in 14–30 days, and the fast end belongs to projects where the stone and setting get decided early. Tell me the date before anything else and you will get a straight answer about what is realistic.

Do you work with veterans?

Yes. Service members, veterans, and military families all get the same one-on-one time and the same guidance. Taking care of people who served is how this works, not a line in an ad.

What if I am not in San Diego right now?

Start by text. Photos, shape, budget range, and timeline can all be handled from wherever you are, so the leave you do have gets spent on the decisions that need you in the room.

What happens if the proposal date moves?

Military dates move. The plan accounts for it. A finished ring waits safely with me until you are ready, and if the window tightens instead, we adjust the path early rather than hoping.
